Collaborative Computing in the United States Army

  •

Looking for a way to assist their officers in cross-collaboration and shared learning, the US Army wanted to create an online, virtual “front porch” where its members could go to learn from one another.  When the professional forums they developed in-house become too much to manage, the Army turned to NewsGator Tomoye for help.

In the summer of 2008, the United States Army decided to integrate their two already existing online professional forums into one system called MilSpace.  Powered by NewsGator Tomoye, MilSpace provided the Army with an all new development and learning ecosystem that not only enhanced the two professional forums that preceded  it, but also offered a variety of new features like document sharing, commenting, blogging, activity feeds, social profiles, and video hosting, among numerous other social capabilities.
